Hello 1A Families!
Oh my, here we go again! I thought the first SCP went well. Thank you for your help. We have received most of the work from last snow day. Please send it in with your Raven once it is completed! This time, I am sending home hard copies of the projects to help families with limited computers, printers, or power outages. These are activities that we do in school independently, and should be familiar to the kids. They are also accessible on my website: msamarirm203.weebly.com. The kids should also read for their reading logs as well. :)
Please feel free to use the templates attached below, or the ones that have been sent home to you!
Project 1 - Fantasy Writing
Students should review our current spelling words and amazing words listed at the top of the paper. After reviewing the words, students should write a story with a beginning, middle and end. The story should include at least 8 spelling and/or amazing words. They should edit their story as we do in class with our writing checklists. When they are finished they need to highlight all the spelling and/or amazing words and make a title.
Writing Checklist
1. Did you start each sentence with a capital letter?
2. Do you have punctuation at the end of each sentence?
3. Did you spell the spelling and amazing words correctly?
4. Does your story make sense?
Project 2 - Math Stories
Students should write 2 math story problems. One math story should involve addition and one math story should involve subtraction. The students should then solve the math problems using pictures, numbers and words.
Each math story should contain at least one number greater than 10 and demonstrate a strategy we have used in class to solve math equations.
Strategies we have used:
1. Doubles
2. Doubles plus 1
3. Make a 10
4. Counting by 10's or 5's
5. Adding on
Both Projects are Due in class within 1 week of returning to school!
My office hours during the snowstorm are from 10am-12pm.
I will be available via email for immediate feedback during this time for any questions.
